As an old-school paintballer with a decade of experience, I know a few things about paintball masks and fog.
There are so many terrible anti-fog products out there, and only a handful of anti-fog items and mask cleaners are helpful.

What Causes A Paintball Mask To Fog Up In The First Place?
Paintball masks fog up because of the way they work. The lens in the front keeps paint and other debris from hitting your face and protects your eyes from the impact of paintballs so you don’t become injured and blind. Because of the high protection levels, paintball goggles don’t allow for much air circulation, which can cause your breath to condense on the lens, causing fog and making it difficult to see on the field.
How Do You Stop a Paintball Mask from Fogging Up?
The best way to prevent your mask from fogging up is to use a mask with proper ventilation, a thermal dual layer lens, or use a defog spray on the lens before you play. Also, keep your face as dry as possible and avoid touching the lens with your fingers. How to Remove Fog from a Paintball Mask?
If your mask does fog up, there are a few ways to clear it:
- Clean it with lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth
- Let it dry
- Dry it with a hair dryer on low settings
- Wipe it with a microfiber cloth
- Spray it with a defogger
- Change the lens
- Change the foam padding if it is wet
Frequently Asked Questions:
Is Anti-Fog Spray Safe for the Eyes?
These sprays are safe for your eyes when used as directed. Never spray lens cleaner into your eyes; only spray on the goggles or glass that fogs up. Keep your body, face, and especially your eyes turned away from the spray cloud and the direction of the spray bottle. Do not spray against the wind as that can cause it to hit your eyes. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for proper use. If you experience any irritation, discontinue use and consult your doctor.
What is the Best Anti-fog Spray for Goggles?
There are a few different types of sprays that you can use on your goggles, and it depends on the type of goggles you have and what kind of environment you’ll be using them in. If you’re using them in a cold climate, a spray containing alcohol will work best, and a glycerin spray will work best if you use them in a hot environment. You can also try using a combination of both types of spray. If you have a coated lens, you don’t want to use harsh chemicals that can dissolve the coat and ruin the lens.
What kind of spray do you use and feel is the best?
I use various defog sprays listed above, but now I’m using the one from Sea Gold Gel. It’s a non-toxic formula that works to keep my goggles clear.
Can You Buy Fog-Free Sprays at Walmart?
Yes. There are many different brands of defogging sprays at Walmart, and some examples are Jaws Quick Sit, Besthua Fog-free Spray, and Bridz Fog Stopper.
